In the modern business environment, there are different digital learning contents which are applicable by organisations. The scope of their application is to ensure that an organisation is best positioned to enhance active learning while involving all the stakeholders.
- Podcasts
Audio-based digital learning content that is getting more and more popular are podcasts. They are very portable in that they can be used when learners are multitasking e.g. during commute, during exercise, or in routine tasks at work place. They are fun to read and they digest quite well since they are said in a conversational tone and most cases are used to give expert opinion, case study or reflection opinions. Cost-effectiveness is one of their key merits because podcasts do not require much effort or expenses to create and can be delivered through online services and platforms (CIPD, 2021).
Nonetheless, one of the main drawbacks is the absence of visual aid. Podcasts may not be useful to the audience who is more a visual learner; especially when acquiring skills which are either practical or technical. They further depend very much on the attention of the learner and his ability to listen and in the absence of any other related material or visual aids, retention may be poor.
Application Example:
Podcasts can be integrated into a leadership development programme by including a series of expert interviews discussing real-world leadership challenges, emotional intelligence, or change management. Learners can listen to these episodes on the go and reflect on them later as part of a blended learning strategy.
2. Video Tutorials
Video tutorials are a great mix of visuals as well as audio content, which is exceptionally good when it comes to explaining processes or work flows. They come in especially handy in assisting learners who would like to see tasks at work and when a topic needs a step-by-step outline. There is time flexibility and self-paced learning as videos can be paused, re-played, and re-wound (Lopes, 2023)………
