The consideration of such practices aids in identifying what aspects would be useful to our 3,000-employee UK pharmaceutical facility in the process of integration with the new Japanese parent company. The focus of Japanese companies on the cultivation of skills on a long-term basis is one of the reasons why adopting more explicit multi-year plan development would help our growing People Management team to achieve better employee retention and efficient growth trajectories among those that demand long-term perspectives and systematic development (Ryba 2025). This would contribute to future capacity building as the centre expands as well as provide personnel with a more envisaged and inspiring career path.

There is also a culture of collective ownership in Japanese workplaces and more team-based outcome performance measures may enhance interdepartmental collaboration. This is particularly critical when the site is being expanded, as R and D, production and marketing should be able to co-ordinate in order to fulfill the operation needs. Moreover, Japanese firms also invest significantly in the development of their early-career employees with the help of intensive onboarding and lifelong learning.
