Benchmarking– Adopting Findlay et al. (2021), this is a process used “compare particular entities rewards approach, practices and benefits are aligned with industry-standard to be fair in organisational practices and being competitive as others in their business environment”. With the eventual reward decisions being matched with their competitors and organisations in similar business environment, they become an employer of choice hence attract and retain the best.
Benchmarking Strategies/Approaches

Data Publishing– The published data are in the form of government reporting, industrial trends on rewards and reward framework in place and embraced by an entity.
For the strengths and merits for the published data include ready to access them and less costs incurred to look for the different categories of published data. The examples as noted by Jayathilake et al. (2021) to include the Office for National Statistics and the Industrial Associations.
The drawbacks/disadvantage lacking non-specifications to align eco-friendly Manufacturing sector compared would not be successful. Also, the publication embraced can be outdated in regard to years amount/numbers hence inaccuracy of data for guiding appropriateness of decision making.
Pay Clubs– There are various industries which offer specific data which are relevant to all (Li et al., 2024). The information and data from these sources are well shared with different benefits offered.
For merits/strengths, they include data appropriateness customised to industries of practice. In Eco-Insulate context, operating in renewable materials manufacturing, they offer competitive pay approaches. Also, Eco-Insulate develop increased competition-aligned structure for the rewards.
Considering disadvantages/weak areas, Findlay et al. (2021), they include need to register and in ties of insufficiency of information, insights in place would be low and non-holistic.
Rewards Consultants Databases– This type of benchmark entails custom-made process to gain insights on rewards from different consultant teams. They succeed in offer specific, up-to-date data and recommendation by expert teams (CIPD, 2024c).
In their advantages/merits/strengths, they are appropriate for their use in manufacturing department in Eco-Insulate owing to their custom-made approach offered by the consultants. The demerits/disadvantages include costly for implementing them in Eco-Insulate which is not a senior organisation.
