As organisations increasingly adopt digital learning, facilitators must build new competencies to thrive in virtual environments. For someone planning their Continuing Professional Development (CPD), three core skills are especially critical: digital literacy, learner engagement techniques, and adaptable communication.
Digital Literacy
Online facilitation begins with proficiency in working digitally. Facilitators should have the ability to work using tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet, utilizing functions such as breakout rooms, screen sharing, chat management, and troubleshooting typical problems.

This ensures the sessions run according to schedule with minimal interruptions. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle or Canvas also assists with monitoring learner progress, managing resources, and measuring outcomes.
